You can find many unusual things at auctions in Ukraine. Everyday items that have been stored somewhere in closets since the times of the USSR are now becoming relatively valuable artifacts and are rising sharply in price.
For example, at the Violity auction, you can find a set of “Dymok” perfumes produced by the “Chervoni Vitryla” enterprise (Mykolaiv). Judging by the markings on the packaging, they were made in September 1981.
At the time of writing (February 11), the lot is being offered for 750 hryvnias, and those wishing to purchase the relic have five more days before the end of the auction.
it is worth noting that the perfume is usually 3-5 years in perfume, after which everything It depends very much on the storage conditions. Since they have been over 40 years old, it is possible that their smell has changed significantly or has become weaker.
At the same time, old perfumes could have used substances that are now recognized as dangerous to health. This includes:
- nitromusks – synthetic fragrances that can cause endocrine disruption;
- bergapten – in its pure form, it can cause burns when exposed to the sun;
- linalool, geraniol, citronellol – potentially allergenic components of essential oils (in the USSR, perfumes were not tested for hypoallergenicity);
- phthalates – substances to increase the stability of perfumes, later they were associated with hormonal disorders.
Therefore, we can say that the lot will be valuable for collectors, but it is better not to use it for its intended purpose.
