Scientists have studied the peculiarities of the way of life of Okinawa's long-lived people and found out the reasons for their good health.
The Japanese are sure that if you follow “ikigai”, the unique purpose of life, it will help you maintain health for many years. Residents of the island often communicate with friends, maintain good relations with family, help neighbors, and regularly engage in community service.
In other words, this makes it possible to maintain psychological balance.
Also, residents of Okinawa follow a special diet, BBC reports. Their diet is rich in vegetables and foods containing antioxidants, and very little sugar.
At the same time, they eat small portions, getting up from the table a little hungry. They also engage in physical activity, performing simple exercises regularly.
