Scientific studies show that the amount of one element in the body can affect lifespan. This element is known as “antioxidants.”
A number of scientific studies show that the more antioxidants a person receives, the lower their risk of death. However, this only applies to certain population groups. According to a scientific article published in the European Journal of Nutrition, diets with higher antioxidant capacity were associated with a lower likelihood of death from all causes, as well as from respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
The human body produces free radicals throughout life. These compounds can eventually cause oxidative stress in the body. If oxidative stress is too strong, health problems can arise.
Including certain types of cancer, Alzheimer's disease, kidney disease. Some scientific evidence even shows that increased oxidative stress is associated with a higher risk of early death.
Antioxidants help neutralize free radicals that cause oxidative stress. That is why it is so important to eat foods rich in antioxidants.
Foods rich in antioxidants include dark chocolate, berries, tea and coffee, pistachios, red kidney beans, oranges and orange juice.
