Doctors from the UK have identified a key early sign of type 2 diabetes. It is unexplained weight loss.
Diabetes can be controlled and even prevented if a person changes their lifestyle and improves their diet. If the disease is not treated, an increase in blood sugar levels in the body threatens a multitude of health problems. The most life-threatening are cardiovascular diseases. The earlier a person learns about the disease, the higher the likelihood of reversing the symptoms. According to doctors, one of the warning signs is unexplained weight loss.
“Although losing weight can help reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, in this case it indicates the risks of developing the condition. It is recommended to consult a doctor if it is more than 5% of normal body weight, or more than 4.5 kg in six to twelve months or less,” the Mayo Clinic experts note.
Other signs of type 2 diabetes include: frequent urination, constant thirst, fatigue, itching in the genitals, recurring thrush, prolonged healing of wounds and cuts, and impaired vision. Doctors advise after diagnosing the disease to undergo an examination every three months to make sure that the condition does not lead to other health problems. Annual examination of the feet for ulcers or infections is also desirable.
