“Kulichiki piechotie”? Bright Ukrainian memes about Easter
Before Easter, which is celebrated by Eastern Christians on May 5, Ukrainians created many memes and photo frogs that reflect today's realities of the people, including a full-scale Russian invasion.
In the memes, people make fun of the occupying Russian army, relationships with relatives with whom they gather for the holiday, children who like to eat icing and Ukrainians who collect Easter baskets for the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, instead of donations for “what the military really needs”.
In addition, they make fun of those who cannot tell the difference between paska and “cakes”, as well as those who did not have time to properly prepare for Easter.
