“Lead to obesity and diabetes”: the doctor called harmful cereals in the morning

Nutritionist Mykhailo Ginzburg shared a recommendation not to eat semolina and rice porridge for breakfast in the morning.

Porridge is one of the traditional dishes for breakfast – it is a dense, satisfying food that can give a lot of energy needed in the morning for work, study and other activities. But Ginzburg's interview sounded a warning: not all cereals can be considered healthy food, especially in the morning, when many important physiological processes in the body depend on the breakfast eaten.

“Cereal is one of the most popular types of breakfast for children and adults. However, not all of them are good for health,” noted the nutritionist.

The doctor named the most harmful cereals in the morning: they are semolina and rice. These dishes in the final version imply the addition of milk or cream, sugar, oil – thus, they can be too high in calories. At the same time, they contain a lot of refined carbohydrates, almost no fiber – the body will absorb them very quickly and the process of such absorption will create an excess of energy, which will be deposited in fat. These porridges contribute to a sharp increase in blood sugar: semolina and rice are so seriously processed that there are almost no nutrients left in them, and their consumption very quickly leads to the release of glucose into the blood.

Regular eating of semolina and rice porridge makes a person prone to overweight and hyperglycemia, which are associated with the risk of developing other dangerous complications, emphasized Ginsburg.

“Semolina and rice porridge can provoke the development of modern diseases, the risks of obesity, atherosclerosis, type 2 diabetes and hypertension increase” , – warned expert.

The expert recommended eating cereals made from “coarse” whole grains such as oats, barley, pearl barley or brown rice.
