Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a term that refers to a number of conditions caused by the accumulation of fat in the liver. The disease is often seen in people who are overweight or obese.
In its early stages, NAFLD usually does not cause much harm, but later the disease can lead to serious liver damage, including cirrhosis.
