Experts have proven that the so-called social isolation causes considerable damage to cardiovascular system. In particular, the probability of strokes increases by 30%.
Scientists from the University of California in San Diego confirmed the great danger that loneliness and social isolation pose to a person. For example, the probability of having a heart attack or stroke among lonely people increases by 30%, and the percentage of citizens who feel lonely has increased rapidly in recent years. serious disorders, including the accelerated development of senile dementia. Humans are social animals and we need to communicate constantly. And if we do not do this, then the brain does not receive an adequate load, connections between neurons are broken, and pathological harmful processes develop faster. And now it has been proven that loneliness threatens with sad consequences for the cardiovascular system as well.
Older Ukrainians, especially women, are in a special risk group. We have a gap in life expectancy between men and women of almost 12 years, due to which a huge number of retired women live alone, because they have long been widowed. And so they have to face various health hazards, if we take into account that older Ukrainians are not friends with technologies such as the Internet and thus cannot somewhat reduce the burden of loneliness at the expense of at least virtual communication.
