Walking is good for health, doctors note. Simple physical exercises, which include walking, reduce the risk of many diseases.
The pace and duration of walking play a decisive role. An average step, compared to a slow one, can reduce the risk of premature death by 20%.
At the same time, a fast pace (about 6.5 km/h) of walking reduces the risk of death from all causes by 24%. Scientists came to this conclusion in the course of a study that studied the connection between fast walking and life expectancy and the influence of various factors on it: general indicators, cardiovascular diseases, cancer.
Experts specify that walks lasting 30 minutes five times a week can reduce the risk of coronary heart disease by about 19%. Better results can be achieved by increasing the distance and speed.
In addition, a recent study found that a 15-minute walk three times a day (after breakfast, lunch and dinner) stabilizes blood sugar levels better than 45 – a one-minute walk at other times during the day.
Walking can also strengthen immunity and protect the body from viral infections.
