Low-paid work may cause premature death

Low-paid work may be linked to increased risk of death in middle age.
Middle-aged workers who were consistently low-paid were 38% more likely to die within 12 years than their peers, who received higher salaries, the researchers found. The analysis was conducted over a period of 12 years and included about 4,000 workers who were at least 50 years old at the time of the study.
According to the co-author of the paper, Katrina Kezios, low-wage workers are more likely to be employed in jobs with “minimal medical and financial benefits” (the study was conducted in the USA), and also face great dangers in the workplace.
