Magnesium deficiency in the body can be explained by dangerous disorders

Dangerous disorders of the body can be manifested by magnesium deficiency – for example, diabetes, gastrointestinal diseases.

According to the British health service NHS, one of the symptoms of magnesium deficiency in the body is muscle spasms, often felt in the legs. These seizures can occur at any time, but most people experience them at night or while resting. Spasms can last from a few seconds to 10 minutes and subsequently cause painful sensations in the affected muscle.

Magnesium that is too low is a condition that requires treatment. In its absence, the problem can take on a larger and more dramatic character – a person becomes prone to heart rhythm disorders and coronary spasms, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, migraines.

Experts warn that magnesium deficiency in the body can be explained dangerous disorders.

Problems with the gastrointestinal tract.Crohn's disease (inflammatory bowel disease) is one of the possible causes of a lack of an important mineral. This pathology is characterized by diarrhea, a violation of fat absorption, which can eventually lead to the depletion of magnesium reserves in the body.

Diabetes. This disease is characterized by frequent urination – together with moisture, the body leaves a large amount of minerals.

Alcoholism. People who suffer from alcohol dependence are also at risk of significant losses of magnesium in the body.

In addition, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) warn: elderly people are at risk of magnesium deficiency. They are more likely to have chronic conditions or take medicines that change their magnesium status.

NHS experts remind us that a blood test can determine the amount of magnesium in the body.

“Low levels of magnesium in in the blood means one of three things: you don't get enough of the mineral in your diet, or your intestines aren't absorbing enough of it, or your kidneys are excreting too much magnesium. Discuss with the therapist which factor is most likely in your case,” they advised.
