Many people do it wrong: the secrets of correct apology in Ukrainian
1
You should not use the Russified form.
Few people know that the expression “excuse me” should not be used, because it is the wrong option. This is reported by “Telegraph”.
“Pardon me” or “forgive me”?
This expression, according to the rules, requires the dative case. Therefore, next to the word “sorry” should be “me” (answers the question who? why?), and not “me” (answers the question who? what?). This is the only correct version of this word combination.
Also, the expression “excuse me” is formed from the Russian “вызвыните меня”. Therefore, you should not use Russianisms in your speech.
You can also apologize using other phrases. However, you should not use the form “I'm sorry”, because it is used when talking about yourself. So, I apologize to myself.
How else can you apologize:
- forgive me;
- I apologize;
- I'm sorry;
- I apologize.
