Major General Serhii Krivonos noted that the practice of replacing men from air defense units with women was quite widespread during the Second World War, both in Germany and in the Soviet Union.

It is necessary to prepare a replacement for the men who serve in the air defense units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Women can replace them, because there are already relevant examples. Reserve Major General Serhii Kryvonos stated this on the air of “Noviny.Live”.

“It should be understood that we already have examples of the same female air defense units that defend in certain areas. These capabilities need to be built up and experience shared,” Krivonos said.

He explained that during the Second World War, in 1942, both in Germany and the Soviet Union, men were removed from positions in air defense units. and were sent to fight at the front, and women came to take their place.

“My grandmother fought in such a regiment from 1942 to 1945, and quite successfully. Therefore, it is not necessary to invent a bicycle, but it is necessary to train those who can replace them,” Kryvonos emphasized.
