Monument to Bulgakov in Kyiv: the petition to dismantle it has received the necessary votes
The petition for dismantling the monument to Bulgakov in Kyiv on Andriyivskyi Uzvoz received the necessary 6 thousand votes.< /p>
This became known on the website of the Kyiv City Council.
The authors of the petition propose, in addition to the monument, to dismantle the memorial plaque to Bulgakov at 13 Andriivskyi Uzvoz.
And also to rename the Mikhail Bulgakov Literary Memorial Museum and change its exhibitions.
The petition refers to the expert opinion of the commission of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance. It states that all objects dedicated to the writer Mikhail Bulgakov are symbols of Russian imperial policy.
In addition, the authors say, the presence of a memorial plaque, a monument and a museum in the city is a violation of the law on decolonization toponymy – a ban on giving names related to Russia to geographical objects.
Let us remind you that the people of Kyiv created two petitions regarding the figure of Mikhail Bulgakov. In one petition, the townspeople ask to preserve the monument to Bulgakov in Kyiv, in another – to dismantle and remove the writer from the public space of the capital.
