Most romances started with friendship

The study found that a significant number of romantic partners began their relationship as casual friends. And then the friendship grew into something more.

Can men and women be friends? Everyone has their own opinion on this issue, but research has shown that most couples in love initially communicated with each other as friends.

So, over time, platonic relationships turned into carnal ones, and friendship turned into full-fledged love. These are the results of a study involving almost 1,900 students and adults.

This study was conducted by scientists from the University of Victoria in Canada. They received a huge number of examples of how romantic feelings are born.

It is generally accepted that strangers first fall in love, but it turns out that this is the least likely way to build a stable relationship. 68% of the study participants started at least some of their relationships in life with friendship, which later grew into something more.

And this did not depend on gender, age, level of education or ethnicity, as well as sexual orientation. First friendship followed, and then something more. 85% of those who accepted a couple in the survey stated that at first they were friends, but not lovers.
