Named a disease that leaves consequences for a lifetime
Scottish scientists have found out which disease changes the state of health forever. When blood flow to the heart muscle is interrupted or blocked, it experiences a lack of oxygen, causing a heart attack.
It can become a turning point in a person's life, after which the patient will have to adjust for the rest of his life. The Scottish Heart Attack and Stroke Charity has confirmed that angina can be seen as one of the most common consequences.
If a person develops angina after a heart attack, it is the heart's way of signaling that it is not getting enough oxygen. However, such attacks do not lead to irreversible damage to the heart. The temporary lack of oxygen usually goes away when the medicine is taken.
An attack of angina pectoris can occur during exercise, known as stable angina pectoris. Unstable angina, on the other hand, occurs when the blood supply to the heart is severely restricted. As a result, angina attacks occur more and more often, and the person's activity decreases.
This kind of attacks can last up to 10 minutes, which can be felt in different ways: heaviness, squeezing, dull pain in the chest. Anger, worry, stress and excessive exercise can also trigger an angina attack.
