Researchers involved in the study also found that people who had suffered heart failure were deficient in magnesium, leading them to establish a link between the amount of magnesium in a person's body and the risk of heart disease.
The data also showed that patients given magnesium after a heart attack were less likely to die. The study found that magnesium has other stroke benefits, suggesting that “magnesium plays an important role in the pathogenesis of acute ischemic stroke. However, more research is needed to further elucidate the mechanism by which magnesium exerts these effects.”
The authors also noted that Western diets affected how much the average person could improve their magnesium levels without supplementation:< /p>
