Scientists say that a simple key to longevity can be a walk in the park.
A study involving almost 5,000 people showed that there is a simple way to extend your life for years – it is to spend 10 minutes a day on physical activity.
“Just 10 minutes of extra exercise per day reduces the annual mortality rate by 7 percent. Twenty minutes – by 13 percent, and half an hour – by 17 percent,” state employees of the National Institute of Health in Maryland.
Their conclusions are based on the results of observations of people aged 40 to 85 years, who they wore accelerometers at the request of scientists. Researchers note that even a 10-minute walk in a daily format can contribute to prolonging life. Walking or cycling is good for both physical and mental health, scientific experts emphasize.
According to them, this is a simple but effective way to combat inactivity, obesity and loneliness, which have long been known as factors that shorten human life.
Let us remind you that most healthy adults are recommended by doctors to spend at least 150 minutes a week on physical activity. If it is intense aerobic activity, then 75 minutes a week is enough.
