According to a scientific article published in the journal Foods, special attention was paid to raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, cherries and cranberries. According to scientists, these berries are rich in vitamins, carotenoids and antioxidants that can protect cells from damage by free radicals and prevent the development of inflammation in the body. This, in turn, reduces the possibility of developing such dangerous diseases as cancer and type 2 diabetes.
Experts from the Harvard School of Public Health note that a healthy diet is one of the three main factors when it comes to minimization of the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. In addition to eating red fruits such as strawberries and raspberries, doctors advise including whole grains in the diet and increasing physical activity.
“A healthy and balanced diet can also reduce the risk of developing cancer,” said Cancer Research experts UK. In particular, they advised consuming foods with a high fiber content: fruits, vegetables, lentils, beans and oatmeal. Natural dairy products can reduce the risk of developing intestinal cancer.
In addition, doctors recommended reducing the consumption of processed and red meat. These include:

- fast food.
