The Journal of the American Medical Association describes broccoli as one of the best foods for stroke protection.
A stroke is not always preventable, but certain lifestyle changes can reduce the risk of a vascular disaster for a person. Including, to better protect the brain from a stroke, scientists recommend following healthy eating practices. According to the Stroke Association (SA), smoking, drinking alcohol or a sedentary lifestyle can increase the risk of stroke, along with high blood pressure, atrial fibrillation, diabetes or an unhealthy weight. In turn, a healthy diet can reduce the risks of diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
“A healthy diet reduces your chances of having a stroke or a transient ischemic attack (TIA),” experts emphasize.

Scientists state that broccoli is especially rich in such an amino acid as glutamic acid. A study from Northwestern University in Chicago showed that a higher dietary intake of glutamic acid was associated with lower blood pressure.
“There is no doubt that broccoli is one of the best foods for regulating blood pressure,” the researchers said.
It is high blood pressure that is the most significant risk factor for stroke in both men and women, doctors remind.
