Scientists from the University of Utah (USA) named one of the easiest ways to become slimmer – for this purpose, experts advise regularly walking on tiptoes.
To achieve the effect of losing weight, it is necessary to practice a special walk every day, moving on tiptoes.
According to scientists, the principle of walking is based on movements, which mean steps performed by moving the feet from heel to toe – humanity inherited it from its distant ancestors. This way of moving made it possible to spend less energy, which served as one of the measures to protect against starvation.
Researchers state that walking on tiptoes forces the body to activate the muscles of the ankle, back, knees, and hips and spend calories more intensively. Thus, it can be used as a simple tool to help lose weight.
“Walking on tiptoes increases energy expenditure by 50-80 percent, increasing the load on some muscle groups. This is one of the methods of more active burning of calories,” the magazine quotes experts.
Specialists conducted a series of tests with the participation of athletes aged 20 to 40, who walked and ran in different ways – landing on the heel, on the sole with a slightly raised heel and on the toe. When running, scientists did not find a significant difference, but walking tests showed that when people walk on tiptoes, their energy expenditure can increase by 83%.
