Named popular everyday products that contain “hidden” sugar

Wishing to reduce consumption sugar, many give up confectionery. At the same time, some products, which may not be sweet at all, sometimes contain more sugar than the same donut. Experts have listed popular everyday products with “hidden” sugar.

One of the first is called low-fat yogurt. Some of the sugar in it is natural sugars found in milk and fruit. However, most of it is added by manufacturers specifically to make the product sweeter and is purchased.

Smoothies are usually made from several types of fruits and/or vegetables. It may also contain nuts and water/milk. The drink is sweet and without added sugar. At the same time, it is easier for the producers of smoothies in plastic bottles to use not natural products, but fruit juice concentrates and fruit purees. In this way, the amount of satiating macronutrients in the drink is reduced, and sugar is increased.

Another product with “hidden” sugar is peanut butter. It is recommended to use it before or after training, as it saturates well and also contains many useful elements. However, the product does not always contain only peanuts, often sugar is added for sweetness, which significantly increases the calorie content of an already heavy product.

In turn, two tablespoons of barbecue sauce contain 15 grams of sugar, and one bottle of tea – 38 grams. There is also a lot of sugar in dried fruit, muesli bars and salad dressings. With care, you should use milk prepared, for example, from almonds. Coffee, a favorite of many in cafes and restaurants, also often includes sugar in its composition.

In addition, healthy cupcakes are not so healthy. They use sweeteners that replace sugar and only increase the calorie content of the product. Also, sugar is often added to whole grain bread. It is clear that there is sugar in chocolate milk, however, its amount is much more than many think, experts warn.
