Experts say that it is important to eat a lot of vegetables and fruits for a healthy heart. However, when it comes to one of the healthiest foods, leafy greens, especially kale and spinach, are considered the best. This is the conclusion reached by scientists in a study, the results of which were published in JRSM Cardiovascular Disease.
Researchers analyzed scientific papers from around the world to determine whether leafy vegetables can help reduce cardiovascular disease. According to the analysis, many people are harming their health by excluding or minimizing the consumption of such vegetables.
These foods are rich in fiber, antioxidants and potassium, according to scientists. For example, spinach is high in vitamins A, K, C, iron, and folate, while kale is rich in vitamins B, C, and calcium.
To learn more about the benefits of leafy greens, scientists reviewed 13 separate studies in which studied the relationship between their use and various cardiovascular problems, such as stroke and coronary heart disease. As a result, it was found that regular consumption of more leafy greens can reduce the risk of such conditions by almost 16%. This study also found that although raw leafy greens are good for the heart, you can get the most benefit from them even after cooking.
