Walking without a hat in the cold threatens to worsen well-being with pressure spikes, inflammation of cranial nerves and other disorders.
Scientists state that in conditions of cold, any open and unprotected part of the body becomes a “portal” through which heat leaves it most intensively. If you take into account that the area of the head is far from miniature (especially in children), the lack of a hat can quickly lead to hypothermia, experts warn.
They named the most dangerous consequences of walking without a hat in the cold.
“The head is not protected by anything except hair, so the body works more intensively to save itself from hypothermia. This is dangerous due to pressure spikes and inflammation of the cranial nerves, the appearance of migraines,” the experts listed.
It is not uncommon to hear that not wearing a hat in cold weather leads to hair loss, flu or meningitis. But it is not so. Other causes are associated with hair loss, and viral diseases attack us when the immune system cannot cope with them.
At the same time, if the absence of a cap contributes to general freezing and cooling, it can weaken the body's protective resources, because the cold contributes to a decrease in the antiviral activity of interferons – proteins that fight viruses.
Speaking of the common consequences of walking without a hat in the cold, experts called “frostbite of the auricles, rhinitis, sinusitis and otitis”.
