Neurobiologists: Regular sports help to slow down the aging process of the brain

Unlike strength exercises, regular aerobic training has been shown to be beneficial even for chronically ill people. As neuroscientists from the United States have found out, sports help to slow down the aging process of the brain.

According to a new study of the University of Colorado, the white matter of the brain is destroyed over time: this leads to the deterioration of cognitive abilities.

This happens with both natural aging and dementia, but exercise may well slow down this process. Running, swimming and cycling make the heart beat faster because aerobic sports increase the flow of oxygen to the head and other parts of the body.

The stimulating effect on the central nervous system helps to reduce stress levels and improve sleep. Proper nutrition is considered an important factor in improving the functioning of nerve cells.

Scientists note that 90% of the hormone serotonin, which is very important for mental health, is produced in this organ. To support the intestinal microflora, you should consume more fiber and avoid fatty, fried and spicy food.
