Many women experience discomfort during menstruation. For example, girls who suffer from migraines often experience severe headaches when their cycle resumes. The neurologist explained that this is due to a drop in estrogen levels in the female body.
In the conversation, she said that on the eve of menstruation, estrogen levels in the body decrease. This triggers the mechanism of a headache attack. In patients with frequent migraines, such attacks may be more severe and last longer.
The doctor added that migraine is particularly sensitive to fluctuations in the level of female sex hormones. The first discomfort may appear a few days before the start of the cycle.
However, you should not think that a sharp headache on the eve of menstruation is the norm. The doctor advised to contact a cephalologist with such a complaint.
You should also not ignore such alarming symptoms as dryness, burning and itching in the vagina. Especially if they worsen during or before menstruation.
