Neurologists have discovered a mineral that can reverse memory loss

No so long ago, scientists in the field of neurology from the Australian University of Queensland discovered a mineral that can reverse memory loss and help the brain to rehabilitate after a stroke. They listed the products that contain this trace element.
The mineral that can restore memory is selenium. It is found in seafood, whole grain bread, Brazilian cheese and meat. Australian researchers conducted an experiment on old rodents to find out how selenium affects the aging brain. Experts began to give mice products with this mineral on a regular basis and later found that the production of new neurons increased in the brains of the subjects, and despite the rodents' advanced age, their cognitive abilities began to improve over time.
Scientists also wanted to find out if selenium affects memory, concentration and perception in rodents that have suffered a stroke. The results gave hope to the researchers.
“Young rodents do very well on tests of memory and perception. However, after a stroke, they cannot do this. However, when we started giving them supplements with selenium, their cognitive abilities began to be rehabilitated,” said Dr. Tara Walker, the author of the study.
The researchers believe that their discovery could help identify new methods of improving brain activity in the elderly. . However, they do not advise using selenium supplements unless absolutely necessary and to first consult with a doctor, as an excessive amount of this mineral in the body can be harmful.
