No better than Coca-Cola: natural juices increase the risk of early death

Studies have shown that drinking fruit juices is just as harmful to health and can lead to early death as drinking Coca-Cola.

Scientists have found an increased risk of premature death from any cause for people who drank a lot of sugary drinks.

They found very similar associations for fruit juices and sugary drinks with an increased risk of premature death and said that this requires additional research.

Sugar is added to sugary drinks under during cooking, while the sugar in 100% fruit juice is released from the cells during pressing. But the biochemical response to the metabolism of these sugars is the same.

The authors suggest that obesity is a major factor in the increased risk of death.

Other factors may be that fructose consumption alters blood lipid levels, inflammatory markers, and blood pressure, while high glucose consumption is associated with insulin resistance and diabetes.
