Nutritionists have named the two best fruits for lowering “bad” cholesterol levels

High cholesterol levels can cause clogged arteries and increase the risk of heart disease. A healthy diet can normalize its levels, and special attention should be paid to several fruits, as nutritionists have pointed out.

Experts note that there are many products that help lower cholesterol levels. For example, oats do this because they are high in fiber, while some types of fish are beneficial because they contain omega-3s.

However, apples are the best at this. This fruit is rich in the largest amount of fiber, including a special “soluble” type known as pectin. According to the Mayo Clinic, soluble fiber helps reduce LDL levels.

This happens by reducing the amount of cholesterol absorbed into the blood. A study published in the European Journal of Nutrition also confirms that the pectin present in apples is one of the best for lowering cholesterol among fruit sources.
