Today, coffee is called a real elixir of health. It has been found to reduce the risk of prostate cancer, heart failure and even hearing loss. And some studies have confirmed its ability to get rid of excess weight. However, it is not equally useful for everyone. In some people, coffee may cause more negative effects than positive effects.
People with IBS
“Caffeine can increase bowel activity, including increasing the likelihood of diarrhea (a major symptom of irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS). So, if you have SLE, it's better to avoid this drink,” said nutritionist Angel Planells.
People with glaucoma
According to the specialist, drinking coffee increases intraocular pressure in people with glaucoma. Although more research is needed for accurate conclusions, while doctors recommend reducing consumption of the drink or giving it up altogether, writes Eat Thіѕ, Not That!.
People with heart disease
Because caffeine can cause a temporary increase in blood pressure and heart rate, it's important that anyone with heart disease discuss with their doctor how much caffeine is safe for them to drink. People with arrhythmias are advised to avoid it, said nutritionist Kelly McGrane.
People with sleep disorders
Many people know that a cup of coffee (or more) after a bad a night's sleep will help you quickly get in shape, but such a habit can only worsen problems with insomnia. Experts advise to give up even afternoon coffee. It is best to avoid caffeine at least 6 hours before bedtime.
People with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
Because caffeine relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter, which is the valve between it and the stomach, this can cause stomach acid to enter the esophagus. As a result, a person feels burning and pain – classic symptoms of GERD. Nutritionists recommend drinking coffee without caffeine or switch to tea altogether.
