British oncologists representing the medical organization Cancer Research UK named several signs of cancer on the tongue
Persistent focus of inflammation . In the case of cancer, an area with long-term, inexhaustible inflammation may appear on the tongue – in this place, when examining in the mirror, a person can see a red or white spot.
New growth. Another possible sign of cancer on the tongue is an ulcer or seal, a bump, which also does not go away for a long time. According to experts, “malignant formations can appear under the tongue or directly on it”.
Bleeding. Oncologists state: the malignant process leads to the fact that the tongue begins to bleed easily – for example, due to accidental biting.
What contributes to the appearance of tongue cancer? Doctors note that the predisposition to the disease increases smoking and alcohol abuse. The presence of HPV, the human papillomavirus, is also a risk factor.
