Popular vitamins turned out to be harmful to health

Today, the farm market offers a large selection of various vitamins and nutritional supplements, however, not all of them are useful and safe. Some vitamins can be harmless “kibbles”, but others can worsen health problems.
Chewable vitamins are a tasty alternative to the usual supplements in pill form. Initially, they were created for children, but now they are also accepted with pleasure by adults. They are most often made from gelatin, but modern versions may also contain other ingredients, such as beeswax, acacia gum and coconut oil.
To give them a sweet taste, manufacturers add glucose syrup or sugar alcohols such as sorbitol. . The main disadvantage of such additives is the absence of certain minerals, including iron. The substance is especially important for vegetarians and the elderly, who have an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases.
In addition, such vitamins contain a large amount of sugar – from 3 to 8 grams. This, in turn, can cause spikes in blood glucose levels, which is dangerous for people with diabetes.
In addition, their nutritional content may be unbalanced. As experts explained, this is due to the fact that such vitamins are more difficult to produce than tablets, so it is difficult to include the right amount of each vitamin and mineral in them.
It is also worth considering that chewable vitamins, as a rule, lose their effectiveness faster than pills. To compensate for this, some manufacturers increase the doses of substances in them, which can cause health problems if you take too much of them.
