Proctologist advised not to take your smartphone with you to the toilet

The coloproctologist advised do not take your smartphone with you to the toilet. The specialist explained how this can be dangerous.

According to the doctor, distraction on the smartphone prolongs sitting over the toilet opening, defecation time increases, which promises physiological disturbances. Hemorrhoids can develop due to long-term tension of hemorrhoidal nodes. Compression of the blood vessels of the lower extremities begins, which is also harmful to the body.

The coloproctologist noted that a sudden call can be a cause of stress, and this also negatively affects the emptying process and its duration. In general, the process of defecation should not exceed three minutes.

“Using smartphones in the toilet is a bad habit, because, firstly, it can increase the time spent on the toilet. If you sit for a long time over the opening of the toilet, straining occurs even after defecation. And hemorrhoids increase due to tension. Secondly, when sitting for a long time, the blood vessels of the lower extremities are compressed, the legs become numb,” the doctor warned.
