Products that slow down metabolism are named
To get energy, the body processes the received food and drinks into calories. This process is called metabolism. The better and faster it is, the less likely it is to gain excess weight and get related diseases, experts note. However, some foods can slow down the metabolism.
A large amount of gluten, starch and phytic acid harms the metabolism. Pasta, non-wholemeal bread and pizza contain them. According to doctors, the body digests simple carbohydrates more easily, which means that the metabolism slows down. In addition, the named products increase the level of sugar in the blood.
Doctors indicate that alcohol also reduces the rate of metabolism: instead of burning calories, the body works on detoxification of harmful substances. Vegetables and fruits contaminated with pesticides, regular yogurt (with the exception of Greek) with added sugar, packaged juice, carbonated water, deep-fried food, farm beef, semi-finished products and “healthy” cereal bars slow down the metabolism.
