Protect yourself without feeling guilty: what you should not apologize for in front of others
0< /i>
Unfortunately, our world is not perfect and is full of many stereotypes. Based on this, if the reaction of one person differs from the opinion of the rest of the society, then his behavior is usually perceived in terms of bayonets.
A person who swims against the current usually has to overcome numerous obstacles in order to defend his independence and self-sufficiency. However, there are some things you shouldn't be embarrassed, apologized for, or reported to anyone for. In addition, they are directly related to your psycho-emotional and even physical health. All of us, one way or another, encounter these things in our everyday life. But few of us know how to take them for granted. What are these things that should not cause us an iota of doubt?
Disclaimer
If you feel that you too often agree to everything that is asked of you, even if it is not a burden for you, then it is time to think about your life. Taking on too much responsibility, especially for the actions of others, means that you are living the script that someone else wrote instead of writing it for yourself. Do not accept help if it is in any way detrimental to you. Focus on the main tasks, without being afraid to refuse those who are used to solving their problems at someone else's expense.
For example, a colleague asks you for the hundredth time to lend him money for his salary, while he himself pays off debts for a long time and reluctantly . Do not hesitate to politely refuse him, referring to some financial difficulties. You should not feel any remorse, you should not be tormented by any guilt, because you owe nothing to anyone.
Only you are responsible for your life, and you decide how to manage your own time and resources. People who endlessly succumb to the persuasion and eternal requests of others (mainly manipulative) are unlikely to truly enjoy their lives. Every minute spent fulfilling parasitic requests takes you away from realizing your own desires. If you use the word “no” wisely in your everyday life, it will help to end chaos, put things in order and prevent emotional burnout.
Healthy egocentrism
Putting yourself first and keeping your own needs in priority is a healthy attitude and a completely natural approach, not malicious selfishness. If you follow the opposite approach, then you will always have to feel inconvenience, always sacrifice something and limit yourself in something. You will constantly make choices not for your benefit, but for the benefit of someone else.
This in no way means that you should never help and provide support to anyone, it is about adequate and appropriate prioritization. After all, a person, permanently subordinating his life to someone else's wishes and needs, can hardly be called the master of his life. Could this be about a happy and harmonious life? Successful individuals do not waste their reserves.
Vacation
Taking well-deserved rest is your legal right, for which you should definitely not apologize to anyone or feel ashamed. Taking time off is just as natural as working (especially if you're working your ass off). If there is an opportunity to break away from the routine of working days, take a break from the usual work schedule, then take advantage of it immediately.
Even the time you spend planning and preparing for your vacation will allow you to relax and distract yourself. You don't need to look at others – think only about the upcoming vacation and entertainment that you have dreamed of for so long.
It doesn't matter how you spend your vacation: go to Bali, go kayaking with friends in the mountains, or simply stay at home to watch TV shows, read books, play computer games, and practice cooking skills — it's your personal vacation time, and no one has the right to dictate to you how to spend it properly.
Loneliness
There is nothing wrong with spending time alone. If you prefer not loud companies, but a warm blanket, a cup of cocoa, an interesting book and a cat by your side, then it is hardly worth experiencing emotional discomfort because of this and being sure that you are deprived of something. If you are in a hurry to leave a stuffy and exhausting party, or are going to refuse to attend it at all due to fatigue or lack of mood, then there is no need to feel any remorse and think that you have let someone down.
Only your choice is to go or stay. The desire to be alone with oneself does not need justifications and explanations, it is a natural need of every person at certain times. You should not overpower yourself and do something that will make you feel bad (morally or physically) for the sake of other people. Be careful about the stability of your psycho-emotional state.
The cross on toxic relationships
Breaking a toxic social bond is not just yours a sacred right, but also a real duty to one's own person in terms of psycho-emotional health. You should never keep those relationships that cause you inconvenience, bring moral discomfort, bring only upsets, devastate you, burden you. Ideally, you should get rid of such relationships or severely limit them.
Remember that communication should be mutually comfortable, and you should not have a desire to leave as soon as possible or even more so to run away. Our life is too short to waste it on toxic people. Do not allow yourself to be hurt, mistrusted, manipulated, lied to or put under pressure. Protect yourself from unwanted, negative social connections.
