Proven: Fast food is dangerous for liver health

Scientists have given people additional motivation to reduce their consumption of fast food. It turned out that such food is indeed harmful to the liver.
The study showed that the consumption of fast food is associated with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Thus, people with obesity or diabetes who consume 20% or more of their daily calories from burgers, etc. have significantly increased levels of fat in the liver. The general population has a moderate increase in liver fat when fast food makes up one-fifth or more of their diet.
“If people eat at a fast food restaurant once a day, they may think they're not doing themselves any harm. However, if that one meal makes up at least one-fifth of their daily calories, they're putting their liver at risk,” the researchers said.
