In addition to physical violence, there is psychological , experts say. Most often it precedes the first one. However, the signs of abusive relationships in the family are often difficult to recognize – psychologists have explained what you should pay attention to.
One of the first signs psychologists call “love bombardment”. This is an increased interest in the other person at the beginning of the relationship, which can seem uncomfortable.
This behavior includes showering gifts, attention and constant contact. Doctors specify that this, at first glance, positive feature often turns into cruelty.
Experts warn about psychological manipulations – for example, when the aggressor makes another person doubt his adequacy and perception of reality. This is accompanied by humiliation, offensive jokes, intimidation.
In such cases, the tyrant will accuse the partner of something that the latter did not actually do. As a result, a person does not trust his own thoughts and feelings, which gives the aggressor control and power, psychologists report.
Family tyrants, doctors explain, control the partner's contacts with the outside world. For example, it may be forbidden to communicate with a specific person or to visit certain places.
The abuser may try to isolate a person, indicate how he should behave in public. Experts emphasize that aggressors constantly speak negatively about one of their partner's friends or family members.
