Psychologists have explained why smart people usually have fewer friends

Of course, a person needs friends, because constant communication with them has undeniable advantages. And although this statement has long looked like an axiom, scientists decided to question it.
Not limited to mere assumptions, researchers conducted a corresponding large-scale survey, asking the following question: “Is it really in order to be happy and satisfied life, do you need friends?”
15,000 people aged 18 to 28, who live in places with different population densities, took part in this survey. Some of them contacted their friends more often, and some less often.
Psychologists from the London School of Economics and the Singapore University of Management, after analyzing the results of this study, came to certain conclusions that you should familiarize yourself with.

About people's friendship
People with a high level of intelligence usually have a narrow circle of friends.
The results of the study with conclusions and justifications are published in the British Journal of Psychology. The conclusions are as follows: firstly, people living in densely populated areas usually feel less happy.
Secondly, their sense of happiness largely depends on how often they communicate with loved ones people in spirit (including, of course, with their friends). A clear dependence emerged: the closer such contacts are, the higher the level of happiness.
And finally, thirdly, people with a high level of intelligence are often exceptions to this rule. It turns out that the higher the IQ level, the less people need constant communication.
The happiness of such people does not depend on whether they are the “soul of the company”. The brain of a highly intelligent individual usually sets priorities somewhat differently than the brain of the average citizen. This also applies to how a person communicates in his environment.
The conclusion suggests: a smart person is most comfortable in his own world. People with high intelligence often feel that social activity is an evil that interferes with normal existence.
Most intellectuals are loners, although not everyone is ready to admit this fact. And yet: the more intelligent people communicate with others, the less happy they feel. Much more emotions are evoked in such people not by communication in a team, but by completely different things that are only interesting to them.
Researcher Carol Graham from the Brooklyn Institute, who is an expert on happiness, is sure that smart people use most of their time to achieve long-term goals. Intellectuals, in her opinion, find happiness in things that lead to a concrete result.
A great doctor working on a cancer vaccine, like a famous writer, invents another masterpiece literary work, and do not need frequent communication with other people. This communication only distracts them from the main thing, therefore it negatively affects their sense of happiness, disrupting the inner harmony of these people.
