Reduces the risk of diseases: scientists have revealed the secret of healthy lungs

Scientists from Denmark have found that physical activity can prevent the development and delay the progression of lung diseases.
This applies to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which increases the risk of death in middle age. The results of the study were published in the world's leading journal of respiratory medicine, Thorax.
It has been shown that high levels of physical activity and/or leisure time recreation are associated with a reduced risk of COPD and that lack of physical activity can accelerate the progression of the disease.
In addition to age, smoking negatively affects lung function. In this study, smoking was very common: more than 70% of the men were active smokers.
COPD is caused by the gradual destruction of the airways and alveoli due to the inhalation of tobacco smoke, gases and particles, and is the fourth most common cause of death in the world.
