Regular sex helps strengthen immunity by 30%

Regular sex increases immune defenses by 30 %. Faith Coates, a popular naturopathic doctor in the United States, said this on his TikTok.

The doctor voiced the theory that regular intimacy helps strengthen the body's immune system. To do this, you should have sex 1-2 times a week. According to Coates, his theory has a scientific basis. American psychologists confirmed the hypothesis at the end of the last century.

Specialists first conducted a survey among students aged 16 to 23 about the frequency of sex during the entire previous month. After that, the psychologists measured the level of immunoglobulin A (IgA), an antigen found in the mucous membranes of the volunteers, which is considered the first line of defense against acute respiratory infections and influenza. The indicator was about 30% higher in those who regularly enjoyed intimacy.

Clifford Lowell from the University of California, commenting on the results of the study, noted that the immune system of sexually active people copes better with various foreign antigens.

At the same time, the fact that the volunteers who had sex more than three times a week had a lower level of immunoglobulin A was lower compared to those who did not have sex at all.

Scientists explained this feature by the fact that these volunteers are probably in bad relationships with their partners, which provokes strong anxiety in them, and stress and anxiety are known to reduce the level of IgA.
