Two Spirit Airlines passengers were supposed to fly from Los Angeles to New Orleans, but they were kicked off the plane before takeoff. Friends Teresa and Tara say that one of the flight attendants did not like their short tops, which caused the incident.
American airline Spirit Airlines has not been receiving the best reviews in the press lately. At the beginning of October, there was a record drop in shares, which forced the company to consider bankruptcy. Literally a few days later, a video spread in which two female passengers talked about a curious incident. They boarded the plane wearing jackets, but took them off because the air conditioners were not working in the plane cabin and the passengers were hot.
One of the flight attendants approached the female passengers and asked them to cover up, as they were wearing short tops. Teresa and Tara threw sweaters over their shoulders, but did not put them on completely.
“We were both a little shocked and a little bit covered with our sweaters because we were nervous and had no idea what was going on. We were sweating because it was really hot, so we took the sleeves off our sweaters, but we covered our bellies and cleavage with sweaters because it must have been very offensive to him,” says Tara.
However, the flight attendant returned and began criticizing them again for inappropriate clothing on the plane. Other passengers tried to stand up for them, but the flight attendant said he would complain about them. According to the women, the flight attendant threatened to call the police and offered to go with him to rebook the flight. he outright lied to us. When we left, they said, 'Sorry, we can't rebook your flight, you've been kicked off the plane,'” the woman said.
Teresa and Tara said they had to spend another $1,000 to buy plane tickets of another airline. After the incident, the women contacted the airline, but did not receive any response from them. In addition, they checked Spirit Airlines' dress code and found that they did not violate it.
“It's an unpleasant experience to be singled out for being a woman and wanting to express yourself that way, especially when you were on the plane other people in crop tops and sports bras, and we were the only ones kicked out for it,” Tara added.
