Scientists: Air fresheners are dangerous to health

Expert in the field of exposure to pollutants Anne Steinmann spoke about the real dangers of air fresheners. According to the specialist, these products can lead to a malfunction of the immune system and other health problems.
Air fresheners can contain hundreds of toxic chemicals, including respiratory irritants, neurotoxins, and carcinogens. Chemical fragrances also permeate cleaning products and personal care products: laundry detergents, fabric softeners, shampoos, conditioners, hairsprays, moisturizers, cosmetics, sunscreens and soaps.
Many compounds remain unidentified, says Anne Steinman, because manufacturers choose to describe individual ingredients in terms that sound innocent. The study involved 1,136 adult participants who used air fresheners and fragrances. It found that nearly a third of the volunteers reported difficulty breathing and headaches after exposure.
