Scientists from the London Institute of Cancer Research have announced that they will be able to cure cancer within a decade. According to experts, this will be achieved thanks to new drugs.
Researchers from the UK are confident that in the near future medicine will be able to “keep tumors under control.” In particular, Professor Paul Workman notes that his leading work will make cancer a manageable disease. The new drugs will allow it to be compared to the management of HIV infection or asthma.
“Cancer is so deadly because it adapts and stops responding to drugs, so tumors grow, spread and become incurable. We firmly believe that we can find ways to make cancer a manageable disease. New drugs will be tested and offered within a decade. This requires a fundamental revision of the view of the disease, so patients do not worry that cancer cells will remain or that the malignant formation will make itself felt again. The drugs themselves will represent some combination of pills,” said Paul Workman.
