Scientists from Great Britain have confirmed the effectiveness of honey for cough
A group of scientists from the University of Oxford in Great Britain confirmed the effectiveness of using honey for colds. This product helps with coughs and damage to the upper respiratory tract better than antibiotics.
Honey has been used by mankind for centuries as a folk remedy for sore throats, irritating coughs and the common cold. A new study has shown that it can be used in the treatment of these health disorders. Experts analyzed scientific works on the study of various properties of honey and determined that it is much more effective than drugs that help fight the effects of hypothermia.
The same applies to antihistamines and painkillers during the treatment of upper respiratory tract infections. The main symptoms of the latter are cold and cough, and in this case, honey helped patients get rid of painful manifestations better than traditional medicines. These treats are 36% more effective than drugs in suppressing coughing attacks, while the severity of symptoms is reduced by 44%. The product shortens the time required for full recovery after treatment of an upper respiratory tract infection by an average of two days.
British scientists have concluded that honey should be used in the treatment of colds. However, it has side effects, as some may develop an allergic reaction.
