British scientists studied the state of health for 11 years about 500,000 people to learn about the effects of coffee on liver health. Researchers have come to the conclusion that moderate consumption of this drink reduces the risk of developing chronic diseases of this most important organ.
In recent years, liver diseases have become one of the causes of premature death around the world. According to the WHO, about 1.32 million people die from them per year. Most of the deaths occur in countries with a low and middle standard of living.
According to the study, three to four cups of coffee a day reduce the likelihood of developing steatosis, fatty liver disease, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic cirrhosis and other chronic diseases of this organ by 20%. At the same time, the risk of death from these diseases among coffee drinkers decreases by 49%.
Citizens from 40 to 69 years of age participated in the experiment, who agreed to donate their DNA for analysis, undergo a medical examination, and talk about their diet and harmful habits Thus, after comparing all the factors affecting health, the scientists determined that the more invigorating drink the volunteers consumed, the less often they suffered from liver diseases. This was especially noticeable in those who drank ground coffee instead of instant coffee.
Scientists also note that it is necessary to improve liver health not only by drinking coffee, but also by reducing alcohol, maintaining normal weight, exercise and proper nutrition. In addition, it is not recommended to abuse coffee, as a large amount of it can have a bad effect on other organs and systems of the human body.
