A new study shows that people who grew up in unstable environment, more prone to food addiction.
Scientists were based on a theory that states that the environment in early life shapes internal strategies for the distribution of energy and resources. Rapid life-history strategies in humans are characterized by early sexual activity, risk-taking behavior and impulsivity, as well as short-term relationships and an orientation to immediate gratification.
Rapid life-history strategies are likely to be better in harsh and unpredictable environments. For example, children who grow up in poverty or unstable family environments are more likely to choose these strategies.
Now researchers have found that higher levels of childhood unpredictability were directly linked to higher levels of food addiction, which is also part of the rapid life history strategy.
