Scientists have explained why women gain weight quickly after marriage

Researchers found that married people gain weight faster, smoke and drink more than their single peers.

Employees from the Australian University of Queensland monitored the personal lives of 15,000 men and women for nine years. Some of them had partners and were married, while others were single.

“Our study was aimed at demonstrating that married people gain weight much more intensively than single people,” explained Charlotte Jackson, a member of the research team.

When people were in a relationship, but not married, they ate more vegetables and fruits than married people. People who were still free from relationships, who were observed by experts, smoked less and drank alcohol. Scientists concluded that the chances of becoming fat in single, divorced or widowed people are much lower than in married men and women.

The authors of the study believe that this is due to the common family diet. In marriage, people often eat together, so they often prepare very high-calorie food. And the portions become much larger over time than in single years.

In addition, the figure is greatly spoiled by joint gatherings with the other half to watch favorite TV series or movies. Most often, this type of family leisure is accompanied by the use of snacks, appetizers, beer, wine and soda.

Another reason for weight gain after marriage is children. Parents often finish eating after their offspring if they refuse or cannot eat their portion. It turns out that parents eat more than the norm.
