Scientific officials of the University of Pennsylvania determined how the use of mushrooms affects mental health.
During the work, scientists analyzed data from more than 24,000 US adults over 11 years. The researchers included data on nutrition and the mental state of fellow citizens.
As it turned out, among lovers of champignons and some other edible species, the risk of developing depression is lower than those who do not eat mushrooms.
So far, scientists have not been able to determine exactly which substances in the composition of the product contribute to the fight against anxiety and despair. However, it is already known that L-ergothioneine, a powerful antioxidant that protects body cells, has a positive effect on the human body.
