Irish scientists have found that certain groups of products can positively affect sleep and even protect against stress.
The new study involved 45 adults. Their ages ranged from 18 to 59 years. All participants usually followed a high-fiber diet.
As part of the experiment, the volunteers were divided into two groups. One of them followed a diet that corresponded to the food pyramid, the other – the so-called psychobiotic diet (it includes a lot of fermented and prebiotic foods).
The results of the experiment showed that those who followed the psychobiotic diet experienced a decrease in stress levels. Moreover, the amount of stress decreased more when the participant ate more foods that are part of the psychobiotic diet.
