Scientists have found out which of the smokers may not be at risk of cancer

Group scientists found that a high or low risk of developing cancer is congenital. Therefore, people who smoke and lead an unhealthy lifestyle may not necessarily get sick.
During the study, experts found seven “genetic imprints” that protect against the development of the disease or increase the likelihood of its occurrence.

Scientists analyzed the genomes of almost 10,000 cancer patients and about 16,000 healthy people. All the patients of the first group suffered from common types of cancer, a total of 22 types of oncological diseases were covered.
With the help of artificial intelligence, scientists analyzed the genomes of germ line cells, which determine the genetic material of future offspring.
“ We believe that a child is born with a germline genomic pattern that does not change throughout life and determines a lower or higher risk of cancer… There are people who can smoke and lead an unhealthy lifestyle, but at the same time do not get cancer. Our discovery can explain this phenomenon,” said one of the authors of the study.
